Having no luck with his card on a new acer 8730g.
I have installed nvidia drivers with the tool provided and edited xorg.conf to include 1680x945 resolution. Still will not boot into x and I have to run xrestore to restore the vesa driver.
Vesa does not like 1680x945 either. Any ideas?

Hmm, please post the Section "Device" and Section "Screen" of your /etc/X11/xorg.conf file here.
You can also try Driver "nv" instead of "vesa" in the Section "Device"

Changing vesa to nv did the trick. At least I have the proper resolution and that is good enough for now. I had no trouble with nvidia on another laptop although different card.
