Hi, I have tried many different linux OS, I am trying the latest Toorox 8 2011 -64bit
with XFCE,

anyway, after getting wireless going after reading instructions found on this forum I went to install nvidia drivers
there are only three options to choose from, I chose the first one - it looked like the newest. However, it was a bad choice since the machine went to a command prompt login and no more desktop...even after rebooting.

I have a nvidia quadro 260M in my laptop, so I assume the driver I chose was wrong since it said GeForce...something or rather...

I tried xrestore but only got an error informing me there was no x...something

perhaps I should have done a similar means of driver install as I performed earlier to achieve wireless activity.

Anyone willing to lend their knowledge?

install the nvidia-driver is easy (root or sudo):

reboot und hope all works :)

and please tell how did you install the nvidia-driver

I installed using system-config, but I reinstalled Toorox so I can install the nvidia drivers properly this time.

I will try what you posted when I get home from work - thanks - I will let you know if it works for me.
