Hi all, how can I install amdcccle, commonly known as the ATI Catalyst control panel correctly? I can't seem to get it to install from AMD's site. The one on AMD's website results in a machine that can no longer boot. I have a dual monitor setup, however, the "Generic" drivers stink, they don't configure dual monitors properly.

I eagerly await your solutions. Thanks!

Regards,
Marshall, Toorox lover :)

Hi bodycode,

simply click on Systemconfig -> ATI Drivers.
This will install the official graphics driver for
your card. Note: This driver supports only newer
HD-XXXX cards.

But where is the Catalyst control panel with the driver GUI Front end? trying to execute amdcccle yields nothing for some reason
Then the driver installation failed. Did you establish an internet connection before starting the driver script?
You will find the control panel in:
K-Menu -> Applications -> System.

Under Toorox Gnome, there's no Catalyst, just a gnome display config. Are you talking about the actual Catalyst driver program from ATI, or KDE's display configuration? It seems to me from past experience that no non-Catalyst control panel GUI's configure my dual monitors perfectly like the Catalyst interface does...?

Please execute as root in a terminal:
qlist ati-drivers | grep /opt/bin/
This should be the output:
/opt/bin/fglrxinfo
/opt/bin/aticonfig
/opt/bin/amdcccle
/opt/bin/atiodcli
/opt/bin/atiode
if the driver package is installed.
If you get another result start a manual installation
in a terminal as root:
emerge ati-drivers
Then you can see whats going wrong.

Ok then. Thanks. With Toorox KDE, the Catalyst control panel installed. I had to pull my hair out putting myself in the sudoers file. Even doing su and then doing sudo didn't work, but I edited the Sudoers file with visudo.

I now have 2 monitor output, but the mouse cursor is invisible on the second monitor! The 1st monitor I see the mouse cursor.

What should I do?

Thanks in advance.
